Peace and blessings, Welcome to Sankofa Story. The Sankofa is a mythical bird of West African folklore. It is symbolic of moving forward into the future while looking back to the history and wisdom of the ancestors for guidance. Our mission at Sankofa story is to push the culture forward by helping the descendants of Africans enslaved in the Americas reconnect with their African roots. We aim to reach Black millennials and Gen Zers with engaging blog posts, podcasts, and short features that tell stories of Black Excellence, from the founders of the world’s first civilizations to those doing it big today. We believe that by remembering our African history, heritage, and people around the globe, we can forge bonds within the global African family. We can build a culture more conducive to the growth and development of future generations. Armed with knowledge of self and our ancestors, we can decolonize our minds and revive African consciousness among the descendants of enslaved Africans.
