About Santa Barbara Alternatives to Violence Project

SBAVP trains individuals to facilitate experiential, multi-generational, 18-hour, trauma-informed workshops introduce practical skills that work in dealing with the violence in our lives. Participants include junior high and high school students, inmates in more than 37 prisons, and Santa Barbara county natives. Our goal is to reduce recidivism rates in graduates, decrease repeat infractions in graduates, help participants to develop an effective foundation of social skills, help graduates to lower their levels of expressed/experienced anger and confrontations, and to help inmates feel optimism.
