The corporation’s primary mission is to strengthen the alumni network of the University of California Santa Barbara Rowing Team to foster engagement with the current team and ensure the long-term success of the program by: (1) Organizing and maintaining a robust alumni network to facilitate ongoing support for current team members; (2) Assisting in the distribution of quarterly newsletters in coordination with the team; (3) Facilitating invitations to alumni for annual team traditions and milestone celebrations, including but not limited to, the end of the year banquet and five-year anniversaries; (4) Conducting fundraising campaigns to address team needs, including, but not limited to, rowing equipment such as ergs, boats, oars, launches, and other essential gear requested by the coaches; (5) Providing a more efficient and cost-effective means of fundraising for equipment procurement, reducing bureaucratic delays and fees associated with equipment purchased through UCSB Development office and the Recreation Department; (6) Working alongside the UCSB Development office to ensure alumni and supporters who wish to contribute to the team’s endowment or other institutional giving channels can do so easily, while also providing an alternative avenue for direct team support. Through these efforts, SBRA seeks to enhance the student-athlete experience, preserve team traditions, and ensure that financial and material resources are readily available to support the team’s competitive and operational success.
