About Santa Maria Health School
Santa Maria Health School is a private Higher Education institution, owned by the Portuguese Province of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady, that has been always a benchmark for quality in teaching and in the personal and technical training of nursing professionals since 1952, sharing the mission and promoting the Franciscan principles and values. Aiming to adapt to the challenges of the present, gaining scale and diversifying the training, the Santa Maria School of Nursing became the Santa Maria School of Health, in 2016, continuing the training of nursing while also opening up to new training, namely Physiotherapy and Higher Technical Professional courses in the health area. Inspired by the Franciscan ideology, the Santa Maria Health School pedagogical and training project, which ensures the continuity of the institution's legacy, aims to give future professionals a plural formation, markedly oriented towards service to others, based on principles that value the human person and on the privileged attention to those who need help and who are unprotected, but technically advanced, aligned with the most modern procedures in the provision of care, very involved with the community, committed to internationalization and encouraging the positive transition to the job market. The Santa Maria Health School, heir to a relevant past, is looking towards the future and aims to train the best professionals of tomorrow in the present.
