Sarginsons Industries is the most technology orientated aluminium foundry in the world. In developing unique technologies, such as Digital Twin Simulations and Topological Optimisation, Sarginsons creates lighter, stronger and lower carbon castings. Its Digital Twin Simulations predict TYE mechanical performance, and fatigue, at any point on a casting. This is a huge advance from the current policy of assuming homogenous TYE values across a component. Topological Optimisation. Sarginsons is able to perform fullTopological Optimisation in casting, taking component lightweighting to a different level in achieving a reduction in mass of up to 50%. Near Zero Carbon. Sarginsons has recently solved a long standing casting issue, recycled aluminium being weaker than primary. By overcoming oxide and iron contamination it has enhances the strength of recycled aluminium whilst reducing the carbon content of to near zero. Prototypes usually have different mechanical characteristics from production parts. By using digital twins to determine these differences Sarginsons exactly mimics the production component’s mechanical characteristics avoiding the frequent teething problems seen when perfectly performing prototypes prove difficult and expensive to cast. One Piece Castings. In simulating mechanical performance Sarginsons can accommodate potential weaknesses, when combining multiple components into one casting. Subframes, Battery cages are all better as one component. Sarginsons is a world leader in using casting technology to produce better, stronger and more sustainable aluminium components. Technology is the key and the process of discovery goes on. Sarginsons is actively developing new ideas and concepts, particularly using 3D printing, with the ultimate goal of full liquid metal engineering, where any shape that a liquid can take becomes castable.
