About SATRO: Education & Employability Skills charity
SATRO is an educational charity which has been working across the South East since 1984. We inspire and engage young people in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), both in terms of subject choices and the career paths they lead onto. In a world where the STEM skills gap in related industries is growing, our work is proving invaluable to schools and employers alike. Achieved through a diverse and challenging range of programmes, we bring schools, volunteers and employers together, on a one to one basis, at classroom level and to participate in regional challenges and large scale events. We also deliver both the Careers and Enterprise Company Advisor and Mentoring programmes. SATRO is supported by over 900 volunteers from over 600 employers and we work with around 8-10,000 young people a year, from ages 6 to 19, including SEND and students who are disengaged or at risk of becoming so. Our Mobile Construction Classroom programme is especially popular and successful in engaging with these latter grous. Our good reputation amongst all our stakeholders, is for not only the quality of our programmes, but for the measurable outcomes that demonstrate the positive impact on young people.
