About Save Windermere
Save Windermere is on a mission to return Windermere to its ecologically natural state, through the complete removal of ALL treated & untreated sewage discharges into the Windermere catchment. We are working to end sewage pollution in the UK's most iconic lake to protect it for future generations. Through data collection, parliamentary lobbying, legal proceedings and activism, we will compel United Utilities to remove there input into Windermere in its entirety, positioning Windermere as the poster-child for the national crisis resulting from the mismanagement of our water utilities. The Save Windermere campaign began due to the simple, verifiable statistic that in 2020 over 7,000 hours of untreated sewage was flowing, mainly from our rivers, into Windermere.
