Type of products: Wood processing equipment/primary log breakdown of logs to lumber. Machinery products: Sawquip designs and manufactures equipment to produce lumber from softwood and hardwood logs, principally with chipping machines, thin kerf circular saws and auxiliary equipment. Sawquip’s systems can process small logs at high speed up to medium and large logs, all with high recovery of lumber in full or semi-automatic mode. Systems can include saws and profilers for single pass processing. Log breakdown includes chipping canters with two or three chipping heads which can be close coupled to band saws or to thin circular saws in twin or quad multiples. Smaller logs are efficiently processed in four chipping head machines with saws. Logs are oriented for maximum lumber recovery according to form, curvature and defects by sharp chain infeeds, vertical turning rolls and special log re-positioning horizontal rolls. Side cuts are separated from centre cuts by sharp chain outfeed conveyors. For un-edged boards and slabs, Sawquip offers two and three chipping head edgers which can be arranged with special infeeds and outfeeds for automatic operation. For two sided cants and squares, thin kerf guided circular saws are offered with saws mounted on single or double arbours in fixed or moveable positions. All edgers have special infeed tables to orient the material to the saws.
