About Say It Loud
Say It Loud (SIL) is a not for profit, Community Interest Company which inspires creativity as a means to combat youth crime. Engages with members of the younger generation through two main initiatives, the Creative Arts Project (CAP) and the Knowledge Is Power Project (KIPP). CAP offers opportunities for children and young people to learn and develop skills in the creative arts. CAP Music is the most widely utilised department which has given rise to the formation of the Urban Youth Orchestra which combines various styles of music and instruments together in new and exciting ways. For example, Say It Loud is famous for fusing Twinkle Twinkle Little star with a Caribbean beat played on African drums. The second half of Say It Loud, KIPP, provides a syllabus about the issues of youth crime and gang culture. Workshops and regular lessons will be provided by volunteers after we pilot the scheme. Since being founded on June 30th 2009, Say It Loud has worked for Newham 6th Form College, Islington Council and even the City of London Police, using music to engage and entertain, but also empower young people and make them more aware of their talents and worth.
