About SAYFE
In 2023, career police officers Jacob and Ell teamed up with chief technical officer Mohamad to co-found software company SAYFE. Their mission? To give people a say in safety. To be the change they wanted to see in a world where 87% of sexual assaults are unreported to police and one in four Australian women have experienced domestic and family violence. Where reports of incidents—harassment, robbery, fights—in public streets and gathering places like shopping centres make headlines every week and solutions seem slow and scarce. Armed with over two decades in specialist policing and investigation and over 15 years in the start-up industry, the three were aware of the potential for technology to help tackle the issue of safety. They decided to not sit on their hands but to dedicate their shared experience and expertise to pioneering tech solutions with three outcomes: Delivering safer public spaces Giving victims power, choice and a safe, anonymous way to report what happened to them Strengthening law enforcement and government capabilities proactively and from an investigative standpoint. “It’s a holistic delivery of support that gives individuals better outcomes and a greater ability to move forward, and also delivers greater judicial outcomes,” says co-founder Jacob. The single idea to create an alternative reporting platform and point of entry into the legal systems for victim-survivors of sexual violence fast grew into a pioneering software company developing solutions to create safer communities. In its first year, SAYFE won funding and endorsement from LaunchVic and VicHealth, beating out multiple other startups in a challenge about using technology to help Victorians better access and enjoy community or outdoor spaces. Beyond law enforcement and government, SAYFE’s functionality extends to multiple industries and environments including: University and college campuses Schools Sporting precincts Stadiums
