About Scala Developments

Scala is an integrated team of designers and builders specializing in award-winning residential homes situated in highly sustainable communities. Our experience includes four of the most sustainable master planned communities in North America; one in both the US and Mexico, and two in Canada. In all of these projects, the principals of Scala, Ari Cota and/or Doug Makaroff, have worked closely with the Trust for Sustainable Development, who are the joint venture partners with the Beecher Bay First Nation, at Spirit Bay. We have completed the design and construction of well over 750 homes and condos, and more than 100,000 sq. ft. of commercial space in the communities of Loreto Bay (Baja, Mexico), Civano (Tucson, AZ), Shoal Point (Victoria, BC), and Spirit Bay (Metchosin, BC). This broad ranging experience has given us unique skills and technologies for managing projects from the initial design and planning stage, right through to completion and move-in. We have learned how to listen well, and create innovative solutions to optimize our clients' resources and exceed expectations. At every stage, we pursue excellence.
