Schlich is a UK based specialist firm of European Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys, focussing on protection and enforcement of intellectual property (IP) in all scientific and technical fields. We act for local, national and international clients and, through our associates, we protect and enforce IP all over the world. Contentious matters represent a speciality of ours; we have particular expertise before the Opposition Divisions and Appeal Boards of the European Patent Office (EPO) and have acted before the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO), the UK courts and trade mark tribunals in the UK and at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Our firm is full service in patents all the way from clearance to courtroom. Our client list includes multinational pharmaceutical companies, international law firms and local companies. For direct clients we draft and file in chemical, life sciences and mechanical technologies. Via our foreign associates we can file direct across all international territories, optionally using the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) system to defer the high cost of those filings. We have a good record in obtaining granted patents worldwide and in defending those rights against third party challenges. We offer all trade mark services in UK, Europe and internationally. We file trade marks locally and abroad, both via foreign associates or where appropriate the Madrid system. We defend our clients’ trade marks in oppositions and prosecute oppositions, both at the UKIPO and at EUIPO in Alicante. In the UK we have acted via the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC) in both its full and small claims track divisions. We file registered designs at home and abroad, taking advantage of the various grace periods that exist where necessary. We also enforce design protection through the courts and particularly through the IPEC. Our offices are located in Littlehampton on the south coast of England.
