Scholé Yoga helps people find what they have been looking for on and off the mat. In everything that we do, we seek to empower people to become their own best teacher. We offer powerful, transformative yoga classes, courses, and training programs that are artfully crafted to offer challenge, connection, freedom and meaning to students of all levels and backgrounds. Scholé is an ancient word for “spare moment” or “leisure." Pronounced “skoh-LAY”, it means leisure in the classical sense, which is the time that one does not fill with distraction. In ancient Greece, if you were fortunate enough to have scholé, you also had an obligation to use that time to pursue learning and discovery in ways that would improve yourself and your community. This could be done in any number of ways ranging from study to exercise and beyond. In other words, Scholé is less about what you do and more about why you do it. Today, the Scholé team spans the globe and is comprised of hundreds of individuals from diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and customs who have come together to honor this tradition of service and self-improvement. After exploring a wide range of different ways to practice and serve, we developed an approach that has come to be known as the Scholé System. The Scholé System is a continually evolving distillation of many great works and experiences that combine the ancient teachings of yoga with a modern understanding of the human experience.
