About School Board Integrity Project

The School Board Integrity Project is a 501(c)(4) organization that recruits, trains, and elects school board members who will practice good governance, pursue academic freedom and excellence, and foster inclusive public schools where every student belongs. Why this matters: With nearly 1 in 5 elected officials in the U.S. serving on a school board, school board members represent the largest single category of elected officials in the country. These races shape not only education policy but the future of our democracy. The crisis we face: Well-funded right-wing political groups are organized and winning local school board elections. In races where fewer than 10% of voters typically participate, these groups are leveraging outside money to essentially install candidates who represent narrow political agendas—not the best interests of students, families, or educators. Our solution: We provide candidates with the tools, training, and support they need to run strong campaigns. Since 2023, we've helped more than 500 school board candidates run for office in 38 states, with an average win rate of 75%.
