About School of Popular Music
The School of Popular Music (SOPM) is the Channel Islands’ largest contemporary music school, dedicated to making high-quality music education accessible, exciting, and relevant for all ages. Founded in Guernsey in 2014, SOPM now operates across multiple locations and teaches hundreds of students each week through one-to-one lessons, bands, workshops, and special programmes. With over 1,000 students and a passionate team of 30+ professional tutors, we offer high-quality music education across Guernsey and Jersey — from beginner to advanced, toddler to adult, hobbyist to aspiring pro. SOPM is also home to: 🎵 Academy – our advanced programme for committed young musicians 🎸 Minis & Risers – group sessions designed for ages 4–11 🌞 Holiday Schools – intensive Easter and Summer courses 🛍️ SHOPM – our growing retail arm, supplying students and the wider community with curated instruments, accessories, and support We’re also growing beyond lessons with SHOPM, our in-house retail service supporting students and the wider community with curated gear and expert advice. As we continue to expand our reach and locations, our mission remains the same: to build confidence, creativity, and community through music.
