About School the World
School the World is a community-driven nonprofit disrupting the cycle of extreme poverty through the power of quality education. For over 15 years, we’ve partnered with parents, teachers, local leaders, and students to ensure that children don’t just access school—they thrive in it. Our holistic model begins with early childhood, builds strong primary schools, and extends through lower secondary with scholarships, alternative education centers, and student mentorship programs. Along the way, we empower parents as their children’s first educators, train teachers in evidence-based practices, and foster a culture of literacy, play, and lifelong learning. To date, we’ve built 160+ schools and 90+ playgrounds, stocked nearly 1,000 libraries, trained 8,000+ teachers, empowered 12,000+ parents, and directly impacted more than 170,000 children across Guatemala, Honduras, and Panama. Now, with our bold Moonshot 2030 plan, we are setting out to double our impact in just five years—serving 84,000 children worldwide and expanding our reach beyond Central America. Through our Service Learning Programs, we also connect U.S. high school students and corporate teams to meaningful service in our partner communities, creating global ambassadors who return home with a deeper commitment to education and equity. Our programs provide quality education to some of the world's poorest children from early childhood through early adolescence; providing them with the education, digital literacy and life skills to charter a path our of extreme poverty.
