Currently, the Defence world is facing extremely challenging moments, with ever shrinking budgets, growing and changing requirements and delays in a number of large programs. At the same time these are extremely interesting times though, with a number of large NATO projects, such as the Air Command and Control System (ACCS) coming to completion, the Bi Strategic Command Automated Information System (Bi-SC AIS) functional services such as the Air Command and Control Information System (Air C2 IS) and the Intelligence Functional Services (Intel FS) going on contract, and a number of exercises being conducted to ensure these future systems can be seamlessly integrated into the existing NATO infrastructure. Due to the combination of these extremely important and interesting large scale projects and the increasing challenges, the need for expertise of NATO and NATO processes in general, and Theatre Missile Defence (TMD) mission area specifically, has never been greater. After being employed by the NATO C3 Agency for over nine years, and after having been involved in various NATO - TMD projects for almost fifteen years, André Schoonen, who is being considered as one of the major NATO – TMD subject matter experts, has founded Schoonen Consulting BV.
