About Schwimmverein Donaukanal

The goal of the Danube Canal Swimming Club is to revitalize the Danube Canal as a swimming spot in Vienna's inner city. We want to establish a new culture of river swimming around this inner-city arm of the Danube, where people deal with the risks of a flowing body of water in a responsible and considerate manner. The joy of swimming in the Danube Canal unites us. It lets us see and experience the city from exciting new angles. We strive to work together with all users of the Danube Canal to make swimming safe and possible in the future. In the heating city of Vienna, we see the Danube Channel as a liquid public space the size of 850 000 m2, that can offer cooling and recreation to thousands of Viennese.
