Embark on a journey through the destinctive vineyards, soulfully pure wines and storied legacy by the 'scions' from a renowned wine-farming lineage in the captivating landscapes of the Lower Helderberg mountain slopes. Southern Stellenbosch, South Africa. With roots dating back over 160 years, our heritage speaks volumes, crafting an enduring narrative of passion and dedication to the art of winemaking. At the core of our philosophy lies a commitment to crafting wines of unparalleled purity and authenticity, echoing the very essence of their terroir. Each bottle encapsulates the intrinsic honesty and character of its origin, speaking volumes of the land from which it emerges. Here, on a granite outcrop known as Sinai Hill, in the Lower Helderberg, our vineyards are mostly a few generations old and currently in custodianship by Bernhard and cousin Pieter Bredell (both 7th generation). This unique farming area benefits from the region’s distinctive maritime windy influence, bush vine dry land farming and the characteristically lighter granite and silica soils. Some deep laying duplex clay and iron ferricrete pockets keeps an interesting complexity in our reds. These unique terroir elements contribute to the unparalleled expression found in each bottle of Scions of Sinai. Our vineyards have become more than wine to us. A lesson that can only be learnt over generational sacrifices, time, failures, triumphs and gratefulness to the story of a truly exceptional terroir. In vino veritas🍷
