Scitech Precision Ltd (@ScitechTargets) offers expertise in micro-assembly, micro-engineering, microfabrication, metrology and characterisation of laser targets - supplying bespoke microtargets for use in high energy photon science experiments. Experiments include laser (inertial) fusion experiments, ion acceleration, astrophysics simulations, warm dense matter experiments, shock compression, proton radiography and x-ray experiments. Targets for these include Multi-layer thin foil targets, Microdots arrays, Cones and Shells, Foam targets, Filters, Hohlraums, Micro-wire Backlighters, Pinhole arrays and more. Following its acquisition of Colsicoat Limited, Scitech Precision is also able to supply a range of spin-coated optical thin films.Two types of coating are offered – single layer antireflection coatings and phase plates. The phase plates have a high damage threshold making them suitable for use with high power lasers. (more information is available on the Products page or our website). As of spring 2016, our new laser micro-machining facilities have opened up an expanded catalogue of bespoke structures in metals, polymers, ceramics, composites and more. The above skills and technologies now allow us to offer a wide range of micro-assemblies, micro-engineered and laser machined components to both science and industry. Scitech Precision Ltd is based at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and is a spin-out from the Science and Technology Facilities Council which combines expertise in micro-assembly and micro-engineering with extensive insight into the physics behind high power laser science. The team of dedicated target physicists and technicians have more than 60 years combined experience in the design, manufacture and assembly of solid, multi-material micro targets.
