About Scotiaderm
Over 20 years ago, an ICU nurse asked Dr. Ann Gordon for help with a patient’s severe skin breakdown from incontinence. As a biochemist, Dr. Gordon created a custom topical cream when none was available. It worked so well that nurses named it "Dr. Gordon's Bum Cream." Two decades later, we’re still compounding it—because there’s been no real innovation since. At Scotiaderm, our mission is to improve the standard of care for Moisture Associated Skin Damage (MASD), reduce healthcare costs with innovative, accessible and tested GMP manufactured products, improve Quality of Life for caregivers with a reduced workload, and for individuals by providing them with improved health, dignity, and independence. Whenever possible, our products use natural agents to reduce exposure to chemicals, and recycle plastics to reduce Co2 production. We have created a Chafed and Moisture Damaged Skin Treatment system for the prevention and also the quick and effective treatment of MASD in adults, called Dermategrity. Current skin care protocols involve a trial-and-error approach involving one or more products - but few data exist comparing these treatments, leaving uncertainty about what to use. We know that primary caregivers and nurses, whether at home or in institutional settings, need easy to use products with demonstrated efficacy. Our Dermategrity line is designed to clinically address all the symptoms, removing the guesswork. Our products have been proven to speed healing and maintain patient dignity, while also reducing the cost burden. And because they're over-the-counter (non-prescription) and natural, Dermategrity products are safe for repeated use for those with chronic issues.
