About Scottsdale Echocardiography Simulation Training Laboratory
The Echosimulation Laboratory is the only post-residency program to offer physicians accelerated training in both TEE and TTE. Attendance is limited to a single physician during any one course period in order to maximize training efficiency. Exceptions are made for senior faculty wishing to be accompanied by upper division residents or fellows. All training is under the continuous direction of a physician instructor who has no other clinical obligations other than to advance the attendees knowledge base and motor skills. We hold the only privately held Metaphor Heartworks Simulator in North America. The simulator was selected for its superalitve reproductions of normal and pathoanatomic states. Fluid dynamic derangements are accurately modeled and suitable for realistic color and spectral Doppler hemodynamic quantitative analysis. The simulator is dedicated exclusively for the use of our attendees and is not out-sourced to any university based programs. We believe that maximizing hands-on probe manipulation time is paramount to the rapid development of the psychomotor skills needed to perform both TEE and TTE. In this era, e-learning combined with live simulation instruction is the most effective way to learn the basis of echocardiography. Our attendees have a success rate of passing the National Board of Echocardiography examinations comparable to the best accredited fellowships in the United States and Canada. The laboratory is located in the easily accessible resort corridor of Scottsdale, Arizona, with close proximity to the Phoenix, Arizona Sky Harbor International Airport. We limit global tuition expenses by offering discounted onsite hotel arrangements. Our central location obviates the need for vehicle rental. The laboratory is available for scheduling 365 days a year with availability only limited by prior registrations.
