scratch pad is a student run agency at James Madison University. scratch pad is derived directly from the special collections in JMU’s library. “The Scratch Pad” was a student publication at the state teacher’s college of Harrisonburg, Virginia. The only record on file is from 1931. We were inspired by their tagline “published now and again…” and wanted a strong connection to our university. we are the again. we strive to be different, to stand out, to give back, to be motivated, dedicated and put nothing but our best forward. to us, scratch pad. is the beginning. the beginning of every brainstorm, of every project, design, copy, strategy, and research. it’s where ideas are brought to life. pen to paper. scratch pad. has a strong affiliation with the American Advertising Federation and serves as James Madison University’s official chapter. our team will compete in the National Student Advertising Competition, work with real clients, create campaigns for local businesses, and have the opportunity to grow professionally, creating connections and participating in invaluable creative experiences. we strive to make an impact...and we'd love to have you join us!
