Sea Change Preparatory provides a transformative education, based on a proven specialized academic program, which inspires and motivates students in a small, mindful environment where individual skills, abilities and gifts are nurtured and rewarded. Sea Change Preparatory utilizes one-on-one, direct teaching, co-operative learning, project-based and group-oriented educational strategies. Cross-aged and co-operative learning help promote role-modeling, self-esteem, and respect for peers. Each student is encouraged to share his or her own gifts and talents with the whole school community. The curriculum incorporates cross cultural concepts, ideas and strategies. The program is designed to get the most out of each student in every dimension of their life. All of the school’s courses specifically meet the University of California a-g course requirements. Imagine your child upon graduation to be able to say that he/she swam from Alcatraz solo, and, as part of a six person relay, swam 21 miles from Catalina Island to the mainland (overnight), or from the isle of Capri (off Italy) to another Mediterranean island, or the English Channel, or setting a record first swim somewhere in the world. Sea Change students who had no prior experience in swimming have actually done all of these—and more—such as having a day named after them by the Mayor of San Diego, and receiving a personally signed letter from the President of the United States, Barack Obama. More importantly, these accomplishments have fundamentally changed each student’s view of themselves and their ability to conquer challenges and transform their lives.
