About Sea Sanctuaries Trust
Here at Sea Sanctuaries Trust we are driven to do our part in making the ocean a sustainable environment for all. Our decision making process is informed by comprehensive studies and high quality data evaluation. We build productive relationships with universities, governments, businesses and local communities so that we can protect marine communities in the most effective way possible. Sea Sanctuaries work with international and local organisations to help develop guidance and best practice for marine conservation management. Our projects are created to understand and drive change. - Sea Sanctuaries have recently collaborated with the University of Southampton and Sam Ratulangi University, Manado, to conduct new research into the impacts of plastic pollution on the food web. This project is investigating the potential influence of plastic loading using a combination of lab and field experiments, as well as considering existing data. By studying both the bottom and top of the food web, we hope to gain a better understanding of the impacts of plastic on marine community dynamics.
