SeaCrop was founded to address the urgent global challenge of food insecurity. As populations grow, agriculture faces increasing disruption from climate change and resource limitations, while conventional solutions like farmland expansion or new agricultural revolutions remain out of reach. Yet one extraordinary, renewable, and eco-friendly nutritional source remains largely overlooked: marine phytoplankton - a vast biomass responsible for nearly 50% of global photosynthesis. Despite its abundance, it has remained untapped due to the extreme difficulty of harvesting it at scale. SeaCrop has developed breakthrough technology that passively attracts phytoplankton to electrically charged fibers suspended in ocean waters. By leveraging natural sea currents instead of moving massive volumes of water, we’ve overcome the central barrier to scalable harvesting. We’ve also built a simple, scalable industrial process that transforms this harvest into a premium-quality ingredient priced as a competitive $1/kg commodity - suitable for food, feed, and aquafeed with potential for higher-value applications in refined form. When deployed in ocean regions affected by human activity, our solution not only avoids environmental harm, but it also actively contributes to marine restoration by reducing the impact of excess nutrient pollution, such as fertilizer runoff. With key technological hurdles behind us, SeaCrop is unlocking the ocean’s most overlooked biomass and positioning phytoplankton as a vital, sustainable resource for the planet’s food future - a true new “ore.”
