About Seal Research Trust
The Seal Research Trust is a multi-award winning, evidence-based conservation charity. What we do really works. We give seals a voice and protect them and their ocean home. Each seal’s fur pattern is unique and enables our volunteers track them for life. Seals face many challenges, yet we all depend on them to balance our marine ecosystem. This is essential to make the oxygen we breathe. Seals are our globally rare wildlife tourist attraction helping diversify coastal economic prosperity. We give something back to the people and communities who support us. Our large and growing volunteer network is made up of people from all walks of life, ages and abilities. For those able to get out, seals give them a focus and reason to regularly exercise, keep fit and healthy. For those stuck at home, our online processing of seal data and photos means they stay connected, make a positive contribution to our team and feel valued. We care about them as individuals and support their lives when challenges arise, from kind words to practical one to one assistance. The importance of each individual in our network cannot ever be underestimated and we are hugely grateful to every single one of them! They are SRT! Sue Sayer is an internationally renowned researcher and author. For over 20 years, she has spent thousands of hours observing seals in the wild from land and at sea in Cornwall. To Sue there is no such thing as an average seal. Each one looks different, has an individual personality, range of habits and migration route around the Celtic Sea! Sue’s love for seals shines through as she talks about seals in her own unique and animated way. Sue founded the Seal Research Trust (est. Cornwall 2000) – a multi award winning, evidence-based conservation charity passionately protecting Cornwall’s precious marine habitats and species. Sue’s philosophy is inspired by the Ecozoic and is all about ‘sharing our seas successfully’.
