Welcome to Seastone of Delray, an extended care, men’s gender-responsive drug rehabilitation and alcohol treatment program. We are glad you have chosen us to help you on your journey to recovery. As men, we are taught to be problem solvers, to fix the problems at hand. We are taught to not express our emotions, to remain skeptical and trust but a few. Most importantly, we are taught to be strong and self-reliant at all times. The only acceptable emotion for men to express is anger. Typically, this is presented as aggression. In fact, aggression in men is celebrated in many of the world’s cultures. These are myths about men that have proven to be significant obstacles to recovery from chemical dependence and trauma experiences, including PTSD. These cultural biases have robbed men of learning how to appropriately identify, express and process a whole constellation of emotions. It has robbed men of being fully human. Seastone of Delray Men’s Recovery Program provides a structured, gentle, loving and supportive place for men to explore their emotions and faulty teachings from the past. Clients learn that the demonstration of personal strength is to be our honest and authentic selves. True strength is exhibited by sensitivity and vulnerability. Upon reaching this understanding, we are then ready to begin the most significant journey of our lives; the journey of recovery.
