About Seattle Girls Choir

Seattle Girls Choir is an organization in which young people are inspired to become the best musicians in the pacific northwest, celebrated for their contributions to their community, and encouraged to be their own best advocates. Our combination of music education and youth leadership opportunities provide the 200+ youth in our programs aged 5 - 18 with an outlet to express themselves in a world where they are often taught to be silent. Founded in 1982, Seattle Girls Choir provides a comprehensive and progressive choral education with an emphasis on vocal technique, musical literacy, and ensemble performance. The choir regularly collaborates with other Seattle area arts organizations and performs at some of the most prestigious national and international choral festivals and competitions. Led by Artistic Director Sarra S. Doyle, we are leaders in choral and music training. We have six progressive levels of instruction for girls in kindergarten through high school, as well as a new elementary school training choir and our contemporary choir for teens. Each choir season’s rehearsals run congruent to the school year, September through June. Instruction includes music theory, sight singing, ear training, vocal training, and performance skills. In the summer months, we run day camps that are open to all girls in the community looking for a fun week of making new friends and exploring music. Additionally, we have a rich tradition of traveling which includes workshops, festivals, conventions, competitions, and performance tours both domestic and international.
