SedTrend specialises in a technique to understand the sedimentary dynamics in marine and coastal environments known as Sediment Trend Analysis (STA®). Used widely to assess coastal erosion, establish the affects of all operations concerned with dredging, determine the fate of contaminants, allocate environmental liability issues, shoreline management plans etc.,the strength of STA lies in the fact that the sediments themselves provide the data. All other methods (in situ measrements, tracers, or numerical models) must make assumptions that can lead to costly and environmentally unfriendly mistakes. Because the sediments contain the only data that have indisputably integrated all the processes responsible for their presence, it follows that the environmental understanding achieved by STA can be established with 100% confidence. In over 25 years the findings of STA projects around the world have never been proven incorrect.
