About Seed St. Louis
At Seed St. Louis, our mission is to empower people and communities to grow food. For over 40 years, Seed St. Louis has been working with communities in the St. Louis region to provide a unique blend of programs: School Gardens – Gardens offer a unique opportunity to apply traditional topics in an interactive environment that reinforces the learning experience. Through our Seed to Stem program, we work with parents, teachers and other community leaders to bring kids outside, integrating classroom work with lessons in gardening and healthy eating. Community Gardens and Urban Farms – Regardless of their function, community gardens connect people to the land, to their food and to each other. Seed St. Louis is proud to support 250+ community gardens, school gardens, and urban farms throughout St. Louis City and County through ongoing educational workshops, tool rentals, and resource distribution. Giving Grove - Much like community gardens, orchards have the power to bring people together and beautiful a neighborhood while providing access to fresh fruits and nuts. Since 2017, Seed St. Louis has been a partner and affiliate with The Giving Grove of Kansas City to integrate community orchards into our existing garden development program. Community & Professional Education – In addition to weekend workshops for backyard and community gardeners, we have also worked closely with the St. Louis Public School District to develop our School Garden Leader Professional Development series – workshops for educators that provide insights into the challenges and rewards of moving classes outside – while providing Continuing Education credits.
