About Semiconductor Sector Service Bureau (S3B)
The Semiconductor Sector Service Bureau (S3B) was established in July 2022 with funding from the NSW Government through the Office of the Chief Scientist & Engineer to enhance the capability, workforce, market connectedness and competitiveness of the NSW and Australian semiconductor sector. S3B is hosted as a joint venture between The University of Sydney (USyd), Macquarie University (MQ) and UNSW Sydney (UNSW). The entire consortium, in partnership with the CSIRO, the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF) and participants from across the Australian semiconductor industry, represents a globally networked, cross-functional grouping that spans the semiconductor value chain. S3B is funded annually by the NSW Government and the host universities. S3B is working at the nexus between industry, universities and government to increase the commercial impact of semiconductors by building capacity, connectivity and collaboration throughout the sector. To enable the increased participation of NSW and Australia in the global semiconductor supply chain S3B will perform 4 key functions: 1. Broker on behalf of many Australian projects to consolidate the potential of collective relationships with the semiconductor supply chain. 2. Offer a strategic and functional semiconductor market intelligence capability. 3. Promote and facilitate access to semiconductor micro-credentialled training to address skill gaps identified in the industry. 4. Coordinate and foster collaboration in the semiconductor sector in NSW and Australia.
