About sense.fx
I am Dan Julian a Technical Architect and Digital Image Technician, I have been working in the creative industry for over 20 years, with a focus on lens-based technology in various productions. I have also operated and created digital solutions on my own, working with a range of clients to deliver high-quality solutions. My introduction to the industry came while studying multimedia in college and doing work experience with Timeslice Films, a company specialising in 3D visual effects with photography. This opportunity led me to set up a retrospective of the company's Founder Tim Macmillian's work at the Fox Talbot Museum and sparked my interest in this field. Recently, I have been working in virtual production with DNEG VP and have been improving my skills in this area. I am a continuous learner and studied additional soft skills to allow me to study at a higher academically challenging level. I have a strong understanding of image requirements for technical clearance, as I have worked as a DIT (digital image technician) on many shoots, I have been developing a cart and pipelines to operate in a virtual production environment. To stay up to date on industry standards and developments, I am a member of the STMPE and attended the IBC industry show. I have also developed a network of industry contacts and have a strong interest in researching new technology and repurposing existing technology. I've been really interested in the trend of using visual effects techniques near the lens to achieve photorealism. In my studies, I've been working on creating datasets and developing workflows that take this approach even further, striving to create visual realism that matches our real-world experience. Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF), a new field in computer graphics, is bringing about photorealistic assets reminiscent of the images produced by Fox Talbot using the salted paper technique with negatives in the mid-1830s. This development reverses the transition from film
