About Sequoia Springs: Trauma Healing Center
Our Story: When thinking about an image that captures how powerful it is to work with trauma survivors, what came to mind was how many pine trees generate new growth. Fire climax pines, like the Sequoia, drop their cones on the forest floor, and inside the cone, encased in its protective exterior, are the seeds for new growth. These seeds can only open through the impact of fire. The Sequoia became our inspiration. It is from the fire that the Sequoia seeds are opened, and in the ashes of what has passed, the ground becomes a richer soil for new growth to happen. Trauma, like a fire in the forest, is devastating, but it does not have to mean the end of the story. The strongest and mightiest of Sequoias have all come out of a fire.
