SEXUAL ASSAULT SUPPORT SERVICES OF MIDCOAST MAINE is the only sexual; assault support service agency to serve the Midcoast communities of Maine. We support Eastern Cumberland (Brunswick, Harpswell, and surrounding Islands), Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox and Waldo Counties with free prevention and intervention services for all ages and identities impacted by sexual violence. Mission SASSMM’s mission is to support and advocate for people affected by sexual violence, while working to prevent it in our communities. Vision A world without sexual violence. SASSMM is committed to providing support to anyone impacted by sexual violence, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, ability, or any other identity. We support survivors no matter how they want to move forward. We recognize that for many people, reaching out to an agency for support can feel unsafe. For survivors of sexual violence with marginalized identities, their experiences may be impacted by the oppression or discrimination they face. Their concerns may be related to the assault itself, but also may relate to their treatment in systems following the assault, from healthcare to legal to criminal justice.
