About SFU Accounting Student Association

The Accounting Student Association (ASA) is an organization made up of highly-dedicated students with the mission of assisting student towards their professional life. In order to accomplish this mission, our association has three pillars: aspire, share and achieve. It is these very services that make the ASA such an attractive and recognizable student club within Simon Fraser University. Aspire is our external service. We expand students' knowledge of accounting by hosting a variety of information sessions sponsored by professional associations and accounting firms. Additionally, we help students form relationships with potential employers by supporting networking events organized by accounting firms and industry. Share is our social service. We believe a strong support network is the best way to alleviate academic stress and motivate students to the next level of achievement. Thus, our association promotes an environment of friendship, team collaboration, and mutual recognition of hard work. We also believe in the philosophy of "Work Hard, Play Hard" and as such, we regularly host social events where members can relax and have a balanced university experience. Achieve is our internal service. Our association recognizes academic excellence alone will not guarantee a successful career. Other qualities such as leadership, time management, and interpersonal skills are just as important. Thus, our association encourages the improvements of these faculties by giving members opportunities to manage or volunteer in ASA events.
