Shaare Zedek Medical Center is Jerusalem’s fastest growing major medical center. Located on two campuses, the hospital provides advanced, compassionate medical care to over 650,000 patients annually while involved in extensive scientific research efforts. During the past year, staff of the 1000-bed hospital,admitted over 65,000 in-patient throughout 30 departments and over 300,000 people were treated in the more than 70 departments and units that make up the out-patient clinics. The state-of-the-art Weinstock Family Department of Emergency Medicine saw over 115,000 people. The medical staff of roughly 450 doctors and 1000 nurses is complimented by nearly 900 administrative and maintenance personnel. Many of Shaare Zedek’s medical practitioners are globally respected physicians and nurses, involved in groundbreaking research into new and increasingly innovative treatments and therapies. Over 700 volunteers are support activities in departments throughout the hospital. The hospital works closely with the IDF on emergency preparedness efforts and is designated as the regional center for the treatment of victims of chemical and biological attack.
