We believe dance is most beneficial as a creative process, in a context of freedom and fun. Kids who join a ShakeOut! club will: – feel fantastic and make new friends – enjoy a mix of freestyle dancing and fun dance games – be creative and move to music they love in a safe, inclusive space What’s our approach? Our programmes are structured around games and activities and set to popular music that children love dancing to. Children learn moves, improvise new ideas and co-create dances with peers. They can dance like nobody’s watching or share their moves with friends in a safe, inclusive way. Can’t dance? We don’t believe you! ShakeOut! clubs – welcome everyone and build friendships wherever there’s a dance-floor. create a safe space to enjoy dance for complete beginners or confident dancers. encourage happy minds and healthy bodies. Children leave with beaming smiles! What don’t we do? We don’t teach choreographed routines. We don’t insist on performing in front of peers or parents. We don’t dampen children’s natural enthusiasm for dance! Why? Studies show that dance is most effective as a fuel for positive mental health when it is a creative process. It has its widest appeal when it happens within a context of freedom, playfulness and fun! We believe people need to dance… it’s in our bones. We want to make our children’s dance culture more widely accessible and more fun.
