About shangri-LA
shangri-LA is a live music collective based in West Los Angeles, built to connect and uplift emerging artists through live music experiences and videos. We bring together musicians, visual artists, filmmakers, and music lovers to collaborate, experiment, and build meaningful creative community. Founded by Loyola Marymount students in 2024, shangri-LA began as LMU Tiny Dorm, a student-run video series capturing intimate live performances in dorm rooms. What started as a scrappy project with friends, cameras, and cables quickly grew into a gathering point for young artists hungry to create outside the usual campus and industry structures. Those early productions showed us how powerful it can be to give artists space to feel supported, seen, and free to take creative risks. shangri-LA has since grown beyond the dorm rooms into a broader web of artists and collaborators. We value authenticity, collaboration, and sustainability, aiming to create spaces where artists can grow together instead of competing against each other. Our work centers on building an ecosystem that reflects the diversity, energy, and experimentation that define Los Angeles, while nurturing long-term creative careers rooted in community.
