About SHARE Center
For over 30 years, the SHARE Center has been providing resources and hope to people experiencing issues related to mental health, addiction, homelessness, and food insecurity. We move people from crisis to stability by meeting basic needs, removing barriers, and securing income and housing. This holistic approach has shown some very positive results for our clients. The SHARE Center provides a safe, non-judgmental space for people from 8am to 6pm 365 days a year. We have a cafeteria that serves over 55,000 healthy and delicious breakfasts, lunches, and dinners each year. We offer an array of basic needs items including hygiene supplies, blankets, and winter clothing. Additionally, our clients have access to showers, laundry, and other resources that allow them to focus more of their time and energy on their recovery. The second step in our holistic process is to address any barriers our clients may be facing. Not doing so only sets people up for recidivism and relapse. The SHARE Center has a full-time Peer Recovery Coach, support groups, and enrichment activities to help people overcome barriers related to mental health and addiction. We provide assistance with obtaining vital records and state IDs as not having them can prevent someone from obtaining employment, housing, and even social services. We also provide laundry, showers, assistance with obtaining a phone, and a mailing address. Not having these resources can also be a major barrier to employment and housing. Finally, our full-time Case Manager helps clients maximize their monthly income through employment, benefits, or both. This sets them up for the best chance of success should an affordable housing unit become available. After just three months of case management. After just three months of case management, our clients are reporting an average increase in monthly income of 216% and an average improvement of self-sufficiency scores of 21%.
