We are the UKs largest retailer and wholesale of sustainable sourced, eco-friendly, hand-made fair trade gifts. We personally travel all over the world, sourcing the best homeware and gifts we can for you, whilst making sure all our producers and artisans adhere to the 10 principles of fair trade putting people and planet first to avoid the very common issues of sweat shops, child labour, unsafe working conditions and poor pay that is so prevalent across the rest of the retail industry. That's not all we are though. We are a family run business, set up in 1986 by Jeremy Piercy after he travelled across Asia in his youth and was met with nothing but overwhelming kindness mixed with the worst poverty imaginable. Growing up with a dad as pioneering as Jeremy, it was natural both his sons joined the company too to continue his passion. Many of you will have spoken to David in particular who is our wholesale Director. Jeremy, now 70, is still just as active and involved as he was 38 years ago. He is still our passionate leader today. You can buy easy, knowing that we are audited by the WFTO (World Fair Trade Organisation) every two years who are there to make sure that we are always working for the improvement of our artisans and put their needs first. You can also be reassured that as we have been in business since 1986 we know who we are and what we're doing. We've built up long lasting incredible relationships with many of our suppliers and are proud to be on this crazy journey with them every step of the way. We also have two shops, one in York right by the Minster, and one in Liverpool up the popular bohemian Bold Street. Having retail outlets (www.sharedearth.co.uk) helps us with our buying choices immensely. We have staff on the ground listening to feedback about what people want. We love having that connection to the public that keeps us fresh and on our toes. If you've never been to either shop, we'd love you to pop in sometime, we'll even make you a brew!
