Sharif Petroleum Operating Company Exploration , Development and Production on Block17 is located mainly in southern Kordofan and covering part of east Darfur state . Block 17 initial acreage was 22,185 KM2 , as per the EPSA requirement relinquished 25% of the area by end of the 1st commitment period in Nov 2012 and subsequently relinquished another 25% by the end of 2nd commitment period in May 2014, which reduced the concession area to 11,093 KM2 . Sharif concession covered by 10,000 KM2 of 2D and 3D seismic survey . from 2007 to 2015 Sharif acquired and processed 4222 KM of 2D seismic survey and 300 KM 3D and re-shoot by 3D 150 KM. Sharif started pumping light crude oil ( API38) from south alnajma field on Dec 2012 with 4,000 BOPD and reached up to 15,000 BOPD . the crude oil transmitted from south alnajma field EPF through petro energy pipeline and facilities & then to GNPOC to the export terminal . Block 17 is the first Block to test light oil in basement ( SA-4 ) opening up the basement exploration as an important oil play .
