About She Shapes History

She Shapes History is a feminist social enterprise making women’s contributions to history visible, accessible, and engaging through walking tours, social media content, and partnerships with cultural institutions and historic sites. Less than 4% of statues in Australia are of women. When half the population’s contributions are missing from the map, the message is clear: women’s achievements don’t matter. This invisibility doesn’t just distort the past. It shapes the present, undervaluing women’s leadership today and sustaining cycles of inequality that contribute to gender-based violence. She Shapes History began in 2021 out of our founder’s frustration with this invisibility. What started as a weekly walking tour in Canberra has grown into a fast scaling national feminist social enterprise sharing women’s history through tours, digital storytelling, a national travel guide, and partnerships with museums, galleries, libraries, and councils. We currently run tours in Canberra, Sydney, and Melbourne, with plans to expand to eight Australian cities by the end of 2026.
