Sheehan & Barry Architects, based in Dublin and founded in 1981, provide a comprehensive range of architectural services with a particular expertise in conservation architecture, historic interiors and the refurbishment of existing buildings and interiors. The Directors are David Sheehan FRIAI, David Averill FRIAI and Ros Criostóir MRIAI. The work of the practice is characterised by its quality, creative flair and attention to detail backed up by technical knowledge and a professional management team. The practice has developed a particular expertise in the restoration and refurbishment of historic buildings and is certified as a Grade 1 Conservation Practice under the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland accreditation system, i.e. the highest grade and acceptable to planning authorities for work on buildings of local, regional and national importance. Recent work includes the restoration and refurbishment of country houses and town houses; the restoration of churches; the conversion of churches to other uses; the refurbishment and interior design of hotels, restaurants and other hospitality buildings; the design of apartment developments and the refurbishment and construction of private residences, including their interiors. The office comprises the following personnel: three Directors and two Senior associates; a Practice Manager along with several Project Architects, Architectural Technologists and administrative staff. The Directors and architectural staff are registered Architects and fellows or members of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland. The practice has developed close links with Quantity Surveyors, Structural Engineers and Environmental Engineers and is in a position to offer the full range of building consultancy.
