About Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Cultural Centre
The project is located in the heart of Kuwait City, on a vast area of more than 236,000 square meters. It portrays the cultural aspect of Kuwait by hosting various types of local, regional and international artistic events. The project is a direct reflection of the rich cultural heritage of the State of Kuwait, which has always been open to the other, extending its reach to world culture and art. The centre has four buildings, appearing as jewels shining on the Kuwaiti land in their unique architectural design. It holds five theatres of various sizes and purposes equipped to host musical, lyrical, dance, theatre, and other performances. There is also an outdoor amphitheatre, a cinema, a lecture hall, a multipurpose hall and a special centre for historical documents, all fully equipped with the latest technologies. Designed and completed in less than 22 months, JACC won numerous international awards. It is cladded in a steel structure separate from the concrete block of the building, with geometric motifs inspired by Islamic art and architecture, thus combining heritage with modern design. The design encompasses a large part of the building, which allows the playfulness of light and shadow. JACC opened its doors on October 31, 2016, in the presence of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, thus announcing a new launch for the cultural and artistic scene in Kuwait and looking forward to a bright future.
