Steve Shellist is a fierce trial attorney. After embarking upon a career in hotel management and starting his own business, Steve Shellist went to law school to pursue his passion for courtroom confrontation. After graduating from law school, he worked for the Harris County District Attorney’s office as a prosecutor. While prosecuting for the State, Steve Shellist worked his way up from misdemeanor to felony courts. He developed a reputation for his aggressive, confident trial strategy. Steve was known for his ability to take even the most harrowing of cases before the jury to secure their verdict. Mr. Shellist tried over 65 jury trials as a Prosecutor, ranging from low-level misdemeanor crimes all the way to felony-level murders. He had a record of winning over 90% of those trials. Additionally, he reviewed and investigated thousands of cases on behalf of the State of Texas. Mr. Shellist left the office after his tenure as a Court Chief, where he was responsible for all case dispositions, as well as the supervision and training of the junior prosecutors that worked for him. Due to his training and experience as a Prosecutor, combined with the relationships that he has forged with judges, prosecutors, court staff, and civil attorneys, Mr. Shellist has been able to achieve tremendous results for his clients. To date, he has first-chaired over 150 jury trials in both state and federal courts. Mr. Shellist has access to an impressive network of lawyers in all disciplines, former law enforcement private investigators, and experts nationwide ready and able to assist him and his clients. He handles matters both in and outside of Texas. Given his robust experience with criminal law, it was only a matter of time before Mr. Shellist decided to take his trial skills to new heights.
