About Shelter Care
Shelter Care, Inc. is a private non-profit agency that serves youth and families in the Greater Summit County Area through a continuum of residential and non-residential care services including short-term crisis intervention, intermediate or respite care, long-term care en route to independent living, residential services for pregnant teens, outreach services, and outpatient counseling. We carry out our mission to provide healing, restore hope and recognize the value of young people and need through six programs: Safe Landing Youth Shelter - Safe Landing provides crisis services to at-risk youth ages 11-17. Services include short-term residential care, a 24-hr hotline (330-784-7200) and individual and family counseling . Highlands Teen Pregnancy Shelter - Currently one of the two only licensed residential teen pregnancy shelters in the state of Ohio, the Highlands provides residential and supportive services to homeless and at-risk pregnant and parenting teens, ages 14-18 and their babies. Shelter Home Program - The program provides long-term residential care to boys ages 11-18. Typically, youth stay in the program for 1-3 years with the goal of family reunification and/or to prepare the youth for independent living. Respite Care -The Respite Care Program provides planned breaks to strengthen and keep struggling families together. This short-term residential program offers scheduled respite and crisis stabilization for youth ages 6-17 who are living with their parent/guardians. Street Outreach Services (SOS) - SOS provides street-based and drop-in services to young adults ages 16-24 who are at-risk or experiencing homelessness, to support and empower them to become self-sufficient, positive, and productive members of the community. Outpatient Counseling- The Outpatient Counseling Center provides trauma-informed, evidence-based, and culturally responsive support and treatment services. Individual, group, couples and family counseling are offered.
