About Shelton Law Firm

SHELTON LAW FIRM 1920 Court Avenue, Chariton, IA 50049 In 1967 William L. Shelton and Richard D. Morr joined their practices to form Morr & Shelton Law Firm and eventually moved their offices to 205 North Main just north of the northwest corner of the Chariton square. Michael J. Streit joined the firm in 1975 and was with the firm for seven years before becoming a District Court Judge and then a Justice of the Iowa Supreme Court. In 1980 Richard Morr became a District Court Judge and the firm became known as Shelton Law Firm. Bill Shelton served as Lucas County Attorney from 1967 to 1982, and in 1987 relocated his offices to the west side of town on Court Avenue. The practice over the years has expanded and contracted with the economy. Currently, there are three attorneys located at the office in Chariton, Iowa. William L. Shelton, R. William Petersen, and Brandon J. Shelton. All of whom are general practitioners.
