About Shepherd's Way

Shepherd’s Way is a non-profit organization set out to empower the 5300 adults with disabilities in Kansas on the waiting list for funding for Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) using a uniquely developed independent living skills curriculum. We aim to aid in the development of life skills from hygiene to vocational navigation and everything in between. Shepherd’s Way is not a CDDO affiliated organization and services are funded through private pay and fundraising efforts by the organization. Shepherd’s Way finds members of the community willing to give of their time to be live-in "Mentors"(roommates) to teach the Shepherd’s Way independent living skills curriculum to those needing services. Through the support of "Spiritual Sponsors" and "Financial Sponsors", Shepherd’s Way provides both financial support and spiritual equipping for its "Mentors." In so doing, Shepherd’s Way strives to enhance the quality of life of both individuals affected by disabilities and their family as a whole. Although the individuals we serve may experience some degree of cognitive or physical disability, not a single one of them is spiritually disabled in the slightest. We believe that each of the individuals we serve was created to thrive in this world, not simply survive it. Each of our students has the potential to find a very fulfilling and value adding purpose in our communities and it is our job to partner with them and walk alongside them, encouraging them, mentoring them, and equipping them to walk into that purpose they were created to achieve.
