About Shepherds Bush Families Project & Children's Centre

SBFP&CC has been at the heart of the local community of Shepherds Bush since 1988. We are an independent charity working to help families who are homeless or have other unmet housing needs and suffer social and economic hardship in Shepherds Bush and the Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham. Homelessness isn't only about sleeping rough on the streets, homelessness covers a wide range of situations & housing insecurity. Many homeless people have a roof over their heads without having a proper home, because where they live is temporary, insecure, overcrowded, unsanitary or unsafe. We have a large hall which gives us the facility to run a warm, friendly, and welcoming drop-in sessions for all families living in hotels, hostels, refuges and other forms of temporary, unsuitable accommodation and runs four days a week. It is a safe space for families to come, and many friendships have been forged and families have found mutual support and comfort from each other. The drop-in is an opportunity for both parents and children to socialise in a safe stimulating environment. We also run a pre-school provision for children aged 1-5 years, After School Club for children and young people aged 5 –16yrs, books & toy library for children & young people aged 0-16yrs and 1:1 therapeutic social work, advice and advocacy service which offers individuals & families advice, emotional and therapeutic support, assistance on a practical level. This includes signposting and referrals to other appropriate agencies and acting as advocate on behalf of families.
